Hi!

My name is Olivia Storey and I am a senior majoring in marketing at Linfield. I am interning at Vista Hills Winery in the Dundee Hills only 20 minutes from campus. At first I chose to do an internship this school year to help me build up my resume and experience. However, when I found the Vista Hills internship it got me thinking about which industry I might be interested working in.

The wine industry is huge in the pacific northwest, and my home of Wilsonville is surrounded by ample opportunities. I am hoping to make great connections and to gain more experience through this internship. At the end I want this experience to help me become a wine expert and to be able to extend my knowledge and be able to teach other people.

This definition of internship most definitely is going to apply to my experience and what I am hoping to get out of it. Even though this internship isn't specifically a marketing internship it is going to give me an overall learning experience of the wine industry. I will also have more business learning opportunities in the spring that will help me apply my marketing knowledge. I am getting credits through the school for this internship which also fulfills the internship definition.

Overall I am very excited for this opportunity at Vista Hills and I cannot wait to see where it takes me; whether it be through networking or the experience I gain I know I am lucky to have this internship!

Welcome to your internship!

Welcome to your internship blog!  I hope it is with excitement that you begin this experience.  Throughout the semester, about every two weeks, I plan to post questions here that we will discuss.

First, please introduce yourself, include who you are, where you are interning, why you chose to do an internship...  anything else you want us to know.

What are your goals for the internship?

Internship defined:  An internship is typically a one-time work or services experience related to a student's major or career goal.  The internship plan generally involved students working in professional settings under the supervision and monitoring of practicing professionals.   Internships can be paid or unpaid, and the student may or may not receive academic credit for performing the internship.

Does this definition apply to your experience?  discuss.

And a housekeeping note, please create a new post with each entry, not using the comment section on what others say.  It is possible in your profile settings to receive an email each time a post is made to this blog (I do this!).  It keeps you engaged without having to remember to check all the time.
